September 2026 – Meatmasters among the winners at the 29th SAMIC Meat Festival Carcass Competition

Meatmasters Group has been named among this year’s winners in the SAMIC Meat Festival Carcass Competition. The awards evening takes place on 17 September 2026 at The Blades, where Meatmasters is also one of the sponsors. It follows the winning carcass entered by Pinecone Piggery, one of our shareholder producers, at the 28th awards. Carcass classification and grading at our abattoir are carried out independently by IMQAS in collaboration with SAMIC. Details of the award will be added after the evening.

September 2026 – New wholesale supply pages and a weekly availability list

Butcheries, processors, wholesalers and food-service buyers now have their own pages on this site, setting out what we supply, how full-load supply works and what to check before buying. Every enquiry form on the site now includes a tick-box for our weekly availability list: carcasses by class, primals, trim, smokehouse lines, frozen specials and load opportunities, with the order cut-off. June 2026 – Abattoir and primal plant certified to FSSC 22000

On 16 June 2026 DQS CFS GmbH certified Meatmasters Group’s food safety management system to FSSC 22000 (version 6), the GFSI-recognised standard built on ISO 22000:2018. The scope covers the slaughtering and deboning of pork, beef and sheep and the packing of chilled and frozen primal cuts, offal and smoked bacon (certificate 40605643, valid to June 2029). It sits alongside our Pork 360 certification and independent IMQAS meat inspection. Certifications.

October 2025 – Roots eDumbe opens in Paulpietersburg

Our fourth Roots Butchery, Roots eDumbe, opened on 16 October 2025 at 26 Joubert Street, Paulpietersburg, serving the eDumbe area with fresh meat, frozen packs, smokehouse products from our own factory and everyday groceries, seven days a week. Roots eDumbe.
